If you haven't already read it I stongly recommend reading the Mechanic's Tale by Steve Matchett, it is an amazing book about his time as a mechanic at Benetton and is a real inside view. Also if you were thinking of reading the Braun Story it's awful, it's not written by Braun and you have a difficult job trying to make it to the end.

Of course, it should be cancelled. And it should be made crystal clear, that this decision is due to the fact, that the Bahraini Rulers have murdered parts of their people, yesterday. Actually, it must be more than a cancellation; it should be a boycot.

It is appalling the way that so called top class motorsport in this country(England) is spoiling the sport at lower levels. I had the mis-fortune to attend the recent HSCC meeting at Donington as a spectator and under the trade discription act I am sure both the spectators and the competitors had grounds for serious refunds. When will the current lease holder and supposed developer wake up and smell the excrement! As it is my local circuit I am bitterly disappointed.

Formula 1 is the pinnacle of motors sports. Best drivers, best cars, best tracks, best technology. Freezing development is a move in the wrong direction for the sport. Setting limits is fine but going to one standard engine is counter to the spirit of Formula 1. The larger teams (Mercedes, Ferrari, Renault) should be constantly improving their engines. The smaller teams that run these engines will still be able to benefit from these advances.

I have not seen any suggestions on rain tires for the 2009 F1 season. Presumably rain tires will be available - slicks in rain will be deadly.

I hope it never happens. I have lived in Donington for 30 years - 30 years blighted by nearly every weekend not being able to move freely in and out of the village. 30 years of constant noise from 7:30am on a Thursday morning for a race on a Sunday. Planes at the airport are up and away but the cars go round, and round and round, relentlessly. We can never have our windows open in the summer because of them. And what has the track, or its owner, done for the village? Nowt. Not even a litter bin.

This is getting farcical now.

The penalties are completely ridiculus and it seems the following is evident:

1. There is strong opposition to a black driver winning a formula 1 drivers championship.

2. FIA have a biased relationship with Ferrari.

I do hope that Lewis Hamilton wins the championship, but I wont be watching F1 until changes in the FOM/FIA management are rung through (Mosely/Ecclastone)l.

I believe that it was when Renault was still Benetton, they engineered a driver cowling under the new rules from a different interpretation from every other team. Though it was perfectly legal, the other teams complained that it was unfair. Well, now the shoe is on the other foot. All Renault can do is wish that they were smarter. It begs to question why they would take this position of complaint, as it serves as a public alert to the policy of back-door engine updates, instead of playing it cool and simply following the example set by McLaren and Ferrari and releasing a flurry of their own changes.

Agreed. As per lately, Domenicali is off point. Though I am not, by nature an antagonist of Ferrari, I must say that the typical Ferrari standpoint is one that is merely self-serving and not best for the sport. If he were to look more than two positions lower than his team's own cars, he might notice that there is often mid-field racing that goes on until the race's conclusion. If we wanted short races, we would be watching C.I.K. events instead.

And I think that they have to work in order to make more atractive the hole weed-end not only Sunday.

For example, may be would be interesting to have a small race the Friday (a very boring day) with the 3rd. pilots...

Luca di Montezemolo is such a SORE LOSER, the real circus was at the Ferrari Pit! The Singapore GP was excellent! Even more entertaining when we have such blunders from the so called top team!

It is also worth noting that the FIA changed the rules prior to Monza so a there must now be a corner between giving a place back and re-overtaking.

The appeal was rejected as inadmissable on the basis of no appeal of a drive through is permitted. However precedent was already set in Japan last year in which a Torro Rosso appeal was allowed into a 25 sec penalty that was also in liew of a drive through.
FIA responded by stating that
"there is an error on the face of the Decision (Japan) document," and so the precedent would not hold, because "Tonio Liuzzi's punishment was meted out under a different article of the rules". They expanded by stating that the steward had addmitted making a mistake in the 2007 Japan GP and therefore that appeal was over an admitted steward mistake.

However Mclaren contacted the steward Scott-Andrews
who told the court in Paris: "he was extremely surprised and that it wass "grossly inaccurate and misleading" and that he had done nothing of the sort.

The steward's testimony was embarrasing for FIA but their dishonest, revision of the precedant was upheld and the arguments concerning the technicalities of the gaining advantage and returning it, were never taken into account.

Ferarri's lawyers, who were allowed to argue on both the precedant and the unfair advantage issue, like prosecuting counsel in Paris, went home happy.
